Andino displayed the hardest average FB of Day 1, a SNK with above average velocity, spin, and movement profile. Further, Andino threw a CU that displayed plus IVB and minimized HB.

Joseph Pasowicz, Richmond Braves 15U Platinum (RHP, 2028):

Pasowicz displayed a three-pitch mix, including a 4SFB that was the hardest top velocity of day 1.  Pasowicz included a fading CH, as well as a CU to complement his above average 4SFB.

• Changeup (CH):

Pasowicz effectively killed the spin on his changeup, further accentuating the speed difference between his 4SFB and CH.

Cam Smith, USA Prime Carolinas 14U (RHP, 2027):

In Smtih’s abbreviated outing, he went 2 IP, allowing only one baserunner and striking out two.  Smith utilized the following two-pitch mix:

• Averaged 81.6 mph, T84.1
• Averaged 11.1” of HB and 15.3” of IVB
• Slider (SL):
• Averaged 71.6 mph, T72.6
• Averaged -6.9” of HB and 3.5” of IVB

Further, Smith registered a 28.1% CSW%, placing him in the top 20% of pitchers in this metric for the tournament.

Paxton Ladner, SBA Tucci National (RHP, 2028):

Ladner registered a 37.7% CSW% (94th percentile), showcasing his ability to garner swings and misses, as well as control the strike zone.  Ladner displayed a three pitch repertoire, including a 4SFB, CH, and CU.

• Averaged 10.7” of IVB and 6.9” of HB
• Changeup (CH):

Ladner effectively killed the spin on his changeup, making it more difficult for hitters to recognize.

Collie Talbot, USA Elite Scout Team 2028 (RHP, 2028):

In addition to Talbot’s ability to garner strikes, Talbot also limited opposing hitters to a 66.5 mph average exit velocity against.

Christian Concepcion, IBAHS 13U (RHH, 2029):

Concepcion showcased impressive power for a hitter of his class, registering two batted balls over 90 mph.  Notable batted balls include: 

• 3B (99.7 EV, 16.5° LA, 269.7’)
• HR (98.8 EV, 21.4° LA, 329.1’)
• 2B (87.6 EV, 36° LA, 298.6’)

Concepcion displayed an impressive approach, with 71.4% of his batted balls being hit as a line drive or fly ball (24.8° average LA).  Further, Concepcion totaled eleven total bases and only swung and missed once (15 total swings).  Attached is Concepcion’s strike zone heat map for all base hits, showing his plus plate coverage.

Brody Pope, SBA Tucci National (RHH, 2027):

Pope displayed impressive power, registering two batted balls over 90 mph, with both being over 97 mph.  Notable batted balls include:

• Fielder’s Choice (99.2 EV)
• Ground Out (97.3 EV)

Pope shows plus power and an aggressive approach at the plate (71.4% Z-Swing %).  Pope also shows room to grow in the future, benefitting from an increase in launch angle. 

Gavin Politz, Barwis Baseball (RHH, 2030):

Politz consistently found the barrel, registering two batted balls over 90 mph and four over 85 mph. Notable batted balls include:

• 2B (92.9 EV, 30.5° LA, 310.2’)
• Fly Out (90.2 EV, 30.5° LA, 297.3’)
• 1B (87.4 EV)
• 2B (87 EV, 28.6° 312.6’)

Politz not only showcased advanced power for a 2030 graduate but also displayed plus bat-to-ball skills (100% Contact % on 11 swings).

Conner Highsmith, USA Prime American 15U (RHH, 2028):

Highsmith showcased plus power, registering the following batted balls:

• 2B (96.2 EV, 41.4° LA, 324.8’)
• 3B (89.3 EV, 7.2° LA, 179.5’)
• Out (89.1 EV, 40.2° LA, 303.6’)

Highsmith also displayed a patient, pull-heavy approach (3.67 pitches / PA).  Further, Highsmith totaled 7 total bases over the course of the tournament.
